Rural Nelson, a non-profit citizens' group, was established in 1999 in response to a genuine concern that citizens be involved in Nelson County's planning process. With the help of a paid Field Officer, we are fulfilling that mission.

Rural Nelson is totally dependent on donations and volunteer fundraisers to continue providing the following services:

• Prompt, comprehensive email reports on County meetings - critical in a county without a daily newspaper, radio or television station.
• Our website--www.ruralnelson.org--offers a wealth of information and links to other sources of information.
• Quarterly meetings and programs present expert and lay speakers on a variety of issues - including tourism corridors, alternative farming, solid waste, water issues and the language of local Ordinances.
