PLANNING COMMISSION ZONING WORK SESSION Wednesday, May 12, 2004 Present: Ms. Proulx, Mr. Harman, Mr. Bruguiere, Ms. Russell, Ms. Hunt Absent: Dr. Walker and Mr. Hoffman Mr. Boger reviewed the draft zoning map, explaining that the map was developed after reviewing the areas recommended in the Comp Plan for growth and using county aerial photos and tax maps to determine areas already developed. He said that staff would try to put as many of the existing large subdivisions on the map as possible before the joint Public Hearing. Mr. Boger then reviewed the changes the Board of Supervisors had made during their May 11 work session, including the designation of additional Corridor Overlay routes, the changes to densities in the Rural Residential Districts and Rural & Farming and the addition of an Historic District to the ordinance. Mr. Boger noted that rezonings would be required as good projects were proposed for areas not previously designated and where growth would be appropriate. Mr. Boger said that Mr. Cox is doing a final review of the draft and staff is working on completing the map prior to the Public Hearing. A date for the Public Hearing has not yet been set. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OF INTEREST: - Saturday, May 22, 2004 - North Branch School presents Bandfair II, featuring the Hackensaw Boys, Tazo, Kow Pi and more at the Rockfish Valley Community Center from 3 to 8 pm for an outdoor celebration of the arts and live music.
