At Mr. Boger’s suggestion, Commissioners agreed by consensus to table discussion to allow the committee to review the changes made to the draft. PROPOSED ZONING AMENDMENT: ARTICLE 10 GENERAL FLOODPLAIN DISTRICT: Commissioners reviewed the proposed draft with Mr. Boger noting that the amendments reflect the changes required for the ordinance to conform to federal and state requirements. Commissioners voted 5-0 to authorize staff to advertise a joint public hearing with the Board of Supervisors for Thursday, April 22nd at 7:00pm at the Courthouse. PROPOSED ZONING AMENDMENT: ARTICLE 20 COMMUNICATION TOWERS: Commissioners discussed the proposed draft with Ms. Russell noting that the original ordinance was developed with the desire to see more, shorter towers rather than fewer, higher towers. She asked whether that desire has changed. Mr. Boger said that if that is still what the county wants to see with towers, the original ordinance accomplishes that and applicants know how to use that ordinance. Ms. Russell asked how the original ordinance would affect broadband. Mr. Boger said that that is unclear right now but that the ordinance could be amended at that time if needed. After further discussion, Commissioners voted 5-0 to have the Chair send a letter to the Board of Supervisors advising that the Commission has studied the existing telecommunication ordinance and does not feel that any major changes are needed at this time.
