The
Piedmont Housing Alliance, a non-profit organization based in Charlottesville,
Virginia operates a MicroLoan Program that is open to residents of Nelson
County. The MicroLoan Program was created to provide small start-up or
expansion loans to entrepreneurs who lacked access to critical resources.
MicroLoan funds can be used for working capital, equipment purchase, inventory
or other business related purposes. Loans are awarded from $500 up to
$25,000. The MicroLoan Program is an equal opportunity lender.
Women and minority entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply.
The
MicroLoan Program accesses funds through various State and Federal programs,
and makes them available at very favorable interest rates to approved
applicants. The program also provides free business plan assistance, loan
application preparation assistance, and business guidance and follow-up; and
will soon be scheduling a series of free seminars in Nelson County to further
assist interested individuals. The MicroLoan contact person for Nelson
County is Owen Young, and I can be reached through the information below.
